Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a poor family of twelve kids who would grew up in the same household, understood very quickly how to navigate her way out of difficulties thanks to her incredibly vibrant imagination. Songs were being written by her before she learned to read or write. After 8 years of age, she had her very first guitar. When she was 11 years old, she began to sing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. Her first album was recorded that same year with Gold Band Records, a small, independent label. When she was still in highschool she garnered a name in the local music scene but longed to be on a bigger stage. When she graduated from high school in 1964 she made the move to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first track to hit the charts for Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female performer to be a part of his syndicated show in the years prior to this. Parton took the offer in 1967 signed with RCA Records in 1968 and joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. She resigned in 1974. the show because of the success of her singles like Joshua Coats in Many Colors or Jolene was way ahead of their joint release. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it reached the top spot at No. Its first appearance at No. 1 was 1974.
