Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the US. She is a writer from Greece, a syndicated writer of columns as well as a businesswoman. She was the founder of The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television personality and the owner of the independent open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Following her move to England from Greece at the age of 16, she received a MA in Economics at Cambridge University. First foreign-born graduate to be elected president of the highly regarded debate club The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take over the presidency. After graduation she made her mark as a conservative syndicated columnist and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed an online voice portal which gave critical opinions about the current political climate. Her popularity allowed her to persuade a number of famous people to share their opinions regarding current affairs, the culture and politics. Arianna's celebrity status was first noticed in 2003 when she became an independent candidate in the California recall vote in order to replace then-Governor Davis. In addition, she led the Detroit project that promoted the use of fuel-efficient cars. Forbes declared her to be one of the "most important women" in media and ranked her 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 most influential media people in 2009. In 2011, AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made her president of that media unit, which comprised of many existing AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Elli was the son of Konstantinos who was a Journalism and management expert. Though she was close to her father it was her bond with her mother that formed her character. Even during her formative years, she exhibited the qualities of a leader for which her name is still well-known. At the age of 16, she moved from America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In her college years she joined the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first female president and only president from outside the country. In 1972, she earned a master's degree in Economics. She became a writer, a critic, a TV host and columnist upon her graduation. In addition, along with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
